Natural ways to strengthen your bones

Understanding the role of calcium in building strong bones: Most of all, calcium is essential for good bone health; if you do not get enough calcium, your body will borrow calcium from food stored in your body. If this happens regularly, the bones in your body will be weak, porous and brittle. Once your bones are weak, you have an increased risk of bone fractures. When you were a kid, milk was a great source of calcium, but when you reach adulthood, milk should not be the main source of calcium intake for these reasons:
Most dairy products are high in saturated fat, which increases your risk of developing heart disease. The consumption of high-fat dairy products also add calories to your diet, which could lead to obesity.
Milk, even organic milk contains natural estrogen. Recent medical studies suggest that increased estrogen may be related to certain forms of cancer, particularly cancer of the reproductive organs. You may think that drinking organic milk provides the calcium you need, but do not jeopardize your health, but they do not know is that there are hormones in organic milk was obtained from a pregnant cow. Estrogen is a result of hormones in milk, and your body can not distinguish between natural and artificial hormones. Stick to skim or low fat organic milk, because more hormones present in milk fat.

As you age, your body is less able to digest lactose, a sugar found in milk and other dairy products. Symptoms of lactose intolerance can range from very mild to very severe. If lactose is a problem for you, buy dairy products that are labeled "lactose".

  • Kale

Make soup stock with organic meat bones and/or seafood shells: Don’t add vinegar or wine to the stock; they will deplete the bones or shells of calcium.

Let the sunshine in: Sunlight contains vitamin D, which your body needs to absorb calcium properly. Sit sun without sunscreen on the skin for fifteen minutes a day, preferably in the early morning, when the sun's rays are weaker. Sunscreen inhibits the body's ability to synthesize vitamin D. If you can not tolerate the sun, take a vitamin D supplement every day. Ask your doctor for advice on how much to take.
